Among José Angel Castillo’s compositions are pieces for youth orchestra, visual media, and chamber ensembles. Castillo studied Music Composition under professors Yevgeniy Sharlat, Donald Grantham, Bruce Pennycook, and Russell Podgorsek at the Butler School of Music where he also premiered pieces with the CLUTCH New Music Recital Series, the University of Texas Jazz Ensemble, and the Viridi Saxophone Quartet. Castillo’s current interests include sound art, improvisation, and electronic composition.
